March ’21: Brady is now Carbon Neutral!

We are thrilled to share the news that Brady has gone carbon neutral! Brady is committed to leading the industry in minimising the impact of its activities on the environment and helping to reduce the spread of climate change and resource depletion. We consider this to be an important part of the way we do business.

Amongst many initiatives across the business in 2020, the People team were working hard in the background developing an environmental policy with the goal to become a carbon-neutral business. We are so pleased that through this work this has now become reality!

The work that was required to achieve this involved gathering all the data of our energy usage from all Brady office locations and emissions from business travel in 2019 and 2020. We worked with an external partner to help calculate our emissions and finally landing on the two offsetting projects that we will contribute to for the off-set of our carbon emissions from 2019 and 2020.

We landed on two very worthy renewable energy projects which are both located in India. Firstly, a solar power project in Bhadla, India which is estimated to reduce approximately 694,471 tCo2e per year. In addition, this project is helping to generate local employment opportunities. The other project is a Solar PV Cookstove initiative in Utter Pradesh and Bihar, India where the footprint reduction is estimated to be 625,000 tC02e. This project also supports women empowerment initiatives with an estimated 100,000-500,000 women in the local region set to benefit from the project.

With our Global Environmental Policy now in place, we look forward to continuing our efforts in helping to facilitate environmental, economic and social sustainability into our business practice.
